“ A supermarket complex that specialized in Japaneses made products. We visited the food court there on a Friday evening around 5:30 pm. The food court is adjacent to the market and is spacious. Not many customers were there at the time but it was full by the time we finished eating around 6:30 pm. The place is clean and provides lots of seatings for dining in. Food prices are very affordable. We ordered 2 bowls of ramen, one with miso soup one with shio (salt) soup. These are the famous Hokkaido ramen by Santonka. We also ordered a Chicken Cutlet with curry (Miyaki Tei). It took a while for the order to be ready. The ramens were very good with either broth. The chicken cutlet portion was big. The chicken meat was tender and tasted just right with the curry sauce and the Japanese rice. Overall it's worth the trip and will definitely visit again when in the neighborhood. ”

“ I love this place! When I am missing Japan I go here to get a taste of it. The udon restaurant is my favorite and the prices are great. It's a fun marketplace that also has cute shops, food and drink spots plus the grocery store. Just have to try to get there early as the parking lot fills up quick.... ”

“ Are you bored of the garden variety dining experience? Are you weary of sitdown restaurants? Do you yearn for a dinig experience that will take you away from the same old same old? Then you gotta check out the cafeteria in Mitsuwa. First and foremost, parking is a patience game. You will find a spot, but you gotta be cool and look around. Check the underground lot out. Maybe you will need to do 2 or 3 laps around the lot. But, you will find a place to park. It's a question of when and not if. After you park and walk into the market, you will find an actual grocery store part on the left. I wnet there and was like ok whatever. But the star of the show is on your right as you enter. There are several stalls that serve all kinds of japanese foods. Tempura, ramen, katsu, you name it! Oh and if you are a beer lover, there is a beer stall that has a great collection of common japanese beers on tap. Definately try a couple of beers out. While you get the food, it's wise to have someone from your party on seat finding duty. The cafetria gets busy. And you will have to be on your game to find a table. Don't hesitate to hover around tables that seem like they will be empty soon. It's a game of musical chairs. But if you just can't find a seat, there are places to stand and eat like your a horse. Check this place out if you are in the mood for something different. ”

“ This Japanese marketplace includes a food court with many offerings including a large market, a bakery and a mochi stand. I find it fascinating just to walk around, but the aromas and sights have always resulted in me ordering hot food and leaving the store with a bag or two of groceries. Seating in the food court can be challenging at times as can be finding a parking place. But going inside is worth the effort. The food is fresh and the variety (e.g. vegetables, sushi...) is substantial. I recently learned that prepared foods go on sale late in the day and I'm going to take advantage of that on my next visit. All of the staff I have encountered have been friendly and helpful in answering my questions. ”

“ If you are going to see a show or concert at the Segerstrom and craving Japanese comfort food, come to Mitsuwa food court, only 5 minutes from South Coast Plaza but unknown to most out-of-town visitors. You can get creative and mix it up to your heart's content -- pick up a bento box or appetizer at the market, then walk over to the food court, order some tempura, udon, ramen and desserts. It's also a fun place just to look and mosey around. ”

“ I love Mitsuwa as a whole. All of the food court looks amazing now with the beer open and to enjoy a home run udon with all the fixins. I just hate how the parking is so chaotic here. Everyone is always very kind and friendly though. It makes me feel like I'm really in Japan, even though I haven't been there yet. I can feel the vibes. Ingredients though seem a bit pricier but great quality ”

“ I love this Mitsuwa market! I love that they have events and vendors from time to time. One of my favorites was when a company from Japan brought their black garlic, yuzu gin, and yuzu dressings (this happened in August).Tak & Tiger from black garlic and yuzu event were also such a pleasure to talk with! I also like that they have a food court that has a lot of different dishes and drinks to offer. The supermarket is sizable with many different options for groceries and even has a bakery in it, which is one of my favorite bakeries! I also love that they conveniently have a Daiso as well as a small stationary store. Overall, I quite love this Mitsuwa since it's so big and has so much to offer! ”

“ Omg this is for omusubi gonbei pop up at the front. Think it's gone for now though, but for the price of the onigiris it was surprisingly soo delicious. Like the rice was seasoned perfectly. I got the bomb and it had some seaweed bits, cooked tuna, and cooked salmon with mayo and some special sauce ($5) . I expected raw spicy tuna because of the description, but it ended up being my favorite. The ikura is a nice basic flavor and kind of mild. The shiso leaf has a nice flavor from the shiso leaf itself but overall is a plain rice ball- their rice is just really nice texture and yummy. 2 rice balls were able to fill me The other time I tried the mentaiko and that was the only one I didn't like as I found the mentaiko quite fishy/bitter. I think their brown rice ones would've been yummy too if they had vegetables I liked. Also when it's not busy checkout is easy because they slapped mitsuwa barcode stickers, when it was busy ( weekend) they had a service down the line/checkout deal. Overall mitsuwa has always been a great place to hang and get food, but parking can be hard to find on the weekend. They really need to figure out the parking situation cuz idk where else to park??? They have these chu his that are like under $5 with 4.9% alch which are lighter in flavor but still yummy. I don't usually go so I was surprised to see they seem to have more pop ups now and the foodcourt is becoming more revamped/pretty. ”

“ Mitsuwa Marketplace is another well-known Japanese general store in SoCal, especially the Torrance location. The Mitsuwa @ Costa Mesa location, likely due to its smaller size and how tightly packed everything is, could cause some sensory overload. The location is shared with a few other businesses, so the parking can get hectic, and to me I get anxiety knowing doors being dinged is inevitable due to the cramped, marked spaces. I don't believe there is any "optimal" time to come but certainly avoid the lunch hours. As there are customers that work nearby swing over to buy prepacked lunch boxes, so the food court is congested. There are a few independent stores - a noodle bar and mochi dessert, setting up counter along the outskirt of the perimeter just makes the market very noisy. The service and prices are okay, but the uniqueness of the inventory does draw me back. ”

Really awesome place w a food court w a diverse option of eateries for almost anyone. ~ Hokkaido Ramen Santouka place i definitely would recommend. Their broth is delicious and noodles are chewy yummy. ~ Dessert place such as the known Matcha REN. Known for their Mont Blanc dessert. So yum!!' Boba shop called UMacha. Sells delicious matcha drinks and Boba. The market isn't itself has some pretty cool items especially items you'd find in Japan. Imported Japanese products along w good quality meats, food etc for your needs. There's a Diaso shop too inside. I can't wait to return to eat more yumminess here. Lots of parking available in the underground parking. ”
